I'd been putting off swimming for all of the south of both France and Spain. Barcelona is our last stop on the Mediterranean however, so this had to be it. I waited for a suitably sunny day to give the false impression of warmth and then took the leap into the sea. Si came along to photo-document, claiming he was too sick to take part in actual swimming, while Sanna also took the plunge (which was no challenge as she's used to much colder Swedish waters).

There were quite a few Spanish people on the beach but absolutely none of them were swimming. They apparently had better things to do, like lounging in the sun and using their camera phones to document crazy foreigners who were stupid enough to go into the water.

But at the end of the day it was all a success and I was filled with the warm glow of a goal achieved. Numbness aside.
