Matt writes about Belgium:

The Atomium

When Brussels was hosting the 1958 World's Fair they decided to take your everyday iron body-centred cubic crystal and scale it up by a factor of about 165 billion. This left it big enough to house a number of rooms, crowds of people and generous quantities of 50's design. I like their thinking.

Comments on The Atomium

n says:

Well... did you go inside? The Atomium is what Brussels is all about. It certainly kicks Maneken Pis' ass right out of town!

sarah says:

There's an educational video just screaming to be made here. Too bad you have no chemistry teachers on the hilarity tour.

Si says:

Alas, no, the Atomium remains on my mental Europe To-Do List. We swung past on our way out of Brussels in search of Antwerp and a camping ground. Rather than rush through all that retro 1950s-goodness and battle through the hordes of people also doing same, we decided to leave it for the next time we end up in Brussels.

You never know, we might end up back again before this trip's over.

Matt says:

I'll have you know that some of us here are qualified to teach some of the "less important" subjects, such as chemistry.

But as everyone knows, maths educational videos are where it's at.
